Clark County Sheriff? 5 Office LCase Activity Report Captain Clayton B. Kreitlow Case if This report is being written at the request of Sheriff Greg Herrick in reference to the background investigation for Lee Lech and subsequent ?ndings made during an open records request/lawsuit by a local paper. On October 30, 2014 i was in Rhinelander completing a background on Lee Lech for possible employment with the Clark County Sheriff?s Of?ce. I had met with several other references and finished up with a meeting at Sheriff Grady Hartmann?s of?ce in Rhinelander. I met with Sheriff Hartmann and Chief Deputy Dan Hess in Sheriff Hoffmann?s office. Release authorization was provided and personnel fiie was provided. Nothing was found in Lech?s personnel file regarding disciplinary action. Lech had numerous letters of appreciation and appeared to have a good work record with Oneida County. Several letters of commendation from various agencies were included in his file. Conversation with Sheriff Hartmann and Chief Deputy Hess was normal as I knew both from serving in the same area. i did ask if there was anything else I should be aware of regarding Lech as he had previously resigned from Oneida County. At no time was anything mentioned about an accusation of violent sexual assault/rape involving Lech or any other member of Oneida County. Sheriff Hartmann did make a comment about he thought i should probably ?pass? on Lech for employment. I took this as possibly stemming from them not having a good working relationship or other issues between them. I took all the information provided and, along with my other-interviews and information, drafted a cover letter and submitted it to Administration for consideration. When asked what my opinion was i stated there was not anything found that would disquaiify Lech from employment with Clark County. I recently learned of an internal investigation by Oneida County involving Lech that was not discussed clue to the information being sealed. 1 had read something regarding an open records lawsuit between a Minocqua newspaper and Oneida County but no details were given. This report is written to the best of my recollection as it occurred nineteen months ago. Page 1 of 2 Clark County Sheriff?s Office This is all the information I have at this time. Captain Clayton B.
