We have a confidential informant who works for a Brady sub that is saying that up to 10 truckloads of black beauty sandblast grit with lead paint chips and asbestos from that site was disposed of in Pacific Mills in Lawrence about 2 to 3 months ago in the basement cement. He said there were still several piles of it outside building 3 which i found to be the case. I did not tell Brady or ECSI about the complaint, just did an inspection and took a sample for asbestos and TCLP metals from the piles. I do not have TCLP lead results yet, but the small squares of pink material with paper backing visible in these shots I took came back as about 70% asbestos. I would be interested to know of any records of testing or disposal of shotblast from the Manchester mill site and whether there was any pink material with paper backing visible anywhere there. After initially promising to launch "an internal investigation" at ECSI (Environmental compliance specialists lnc. Jesse Wright, the owner then changed his tune and said it was illegally dumped there by an unknown third party which is far-fetched. ECSI also took samples of it and have not heard back yet what their results are. it is possible the pink material was under flooring that was removed or under a layer of wood floor and unexpectedly encountered. lf asbestos was removed using sandblasting without proper procedures, it would be hazardous to workers. Also, as you know it is much more expensive to get rid of asbestos than regular solid waste so some motivation to bury it in a floor is there. Brady Sullivan supervisor also briefly mentioned that ECSI may have "brought some ?ll in", but never mentioned it Please let me know if you saw anything like this up there and what ECSI said they did with the spent black beauty and asbestos. He said it went to Land or someplace that asphalt batches it. Pretty Sure they would not take this Original From: Sent: Tuesday, September 22, 2015 12:20 PM To: Stephen.Cullinane@des.nh.gov Cc: Magoon, Molly; Chow, James; Dame, Timothy (DEP) Subject: Brady Sullivan and ECSI Good Morning Steve - Ijust got off the phone with Tim Dame, MA DEP, who contacted me regarding the Brady Sullivan/ECSI mill site in Scanned by CamScanner from the LaWrence. They have located piles of black beauty sa ndblast that they have reason to belsve ECSI McGregor Street Mill project in Manchester to the Lawrence job site. These piles of shot ast are friable asbestos containing material. They are testing it further for Lead content. They suspect it came from sandblasting floors. Tim was looking for who the Asbestos contact was up here in NH and I wanted to introduce him to you . Lharvaevaelso copied this email to Molly Magoon and James Chow, from our regional EPA office the Lead Program 0 been working with Brady Sullivan on the McGregor Street Project.
