Knox/u; Cum: MM: Date Reported Date of Incident Initials 6/22/2012 6/15/2012 TP 11/6/2012 10/22/2012 SC 2/28/2013 2/27/2013 JJ 3/2/2013 3/19/2013 Location 210 Hokona Hall, UNM 373 Hokona Hall, UNM SUB, UNM Type Color/Race Description One June 15, 2012 at approximately 1:20 pm found that someone had written word "Freak!" on the dry erase board on office door (See Attached). Was reported to UNMPD as well as the Division for Equity and Inclusion Hate/Bias Incidence Reporting. UNMPD investigated and a CARE Team was called to discuss the issue since the complaintant felt targeted and unsafe (see attached report). VPEI met with Dean. Color/Race Was asked to go to office they temporarily occupied to see what someone had done to the space. When he arrived he found a drawing of a penis and the "N" word written on the black board & pull down screen. Since property was damaged, the UNMPD were called. UNMPD handled the investigation. Neither the complaintant nor the staff reported feeling threatened. Sexual Incident occurred at 12:45 to 1:00 pm. The UNM Republican Student Group President called out a fellow student for commenting against Chick-fil-a. She named the Orientation/Ge student and the organization in front of the participants of an open meeting. The complaintant felt threatened. nder Identity Outcomes Complaintant was contacted over the course of the semester to follow-up. Complaintant reported an offensive drawing on a white board in room 13 of Coronado Hall. The drawing was of a stick figure with a black face and the "N" word was written on the drawing and pointed to the stick figure. The figure also had a noose drawn around its neck. The individual felt offended and threatened even though he stated that he did not know if it was meant for him. NOTE: Police report was sent by the Director of African American Student Services. No formal Hate/Bias Incidence Form was filed. INCIDENT: On March 9th she parked her vehicle in the Lomas Parking Structure. When she returned to her car someone had written the "N" word and "ha, ha" on her car dust with their finger. She also claimed that on a previous occasion someone had written in the dust of the car a smiley face and the word "Ewww". The complaintant said she did not know who could have written on her car. The incident was reported to Residence Life, the Dean of Students Office and the UNMPD. The UNMPD filed a report and investigated the incident. The Dean of Students and Residence life worked to address the safety concerns of the No witnesses were located and no suspects were identified. The matter was investigated and handled by the UNMPD. UNM Staff threatened with bodily harm by co-worker and attacked before supervisor's intervened on 1/13/11. Nothing was ever done regarding the incident and hate/bias incident report was filed on 4/1/2013. Someone wrote the message "gringos out of Latin America" on the side of the parking structure in large chalk letters. UNM police were contacted and a police report was filed. 3/1/2013 TM Coronado Hall - Residence Hall Color/Race 3/9/2013 TI Lomas Parking Structure Color/Race 4/1/2013 DH Physical Plant Other The VPEI called the complaintant to follow up and to ensure that they they were satisfied with the investigation. The matter became a non-issue when the director and staff returned to their permanent offices. The incident was also reported to the Dean of Students and was investigated and handled by the Dean of Students. 4/15/2013 4/15/2013 EH UNM Parking Structure Color/Race 5/8/2013 5/6/2013 CD UNM SUB, ANTS Office Sexual The complaintant states that Orientation/Ge nder Identity 5/17/2013 5/16/2013 TP 200 Hokona Color/Race Discovered a message reading "Not Play" written on the dry erase board posted outsdie her office door. Since someone has written something on the dry erase Monitoring for her safety continued by the UNMPD, the COE dean and her previously, the complaintant identified the writing as similar to the other two messages - "Freak" and "Dr. Fuckhead". In addition, previously someone had removed department chair. The incidents eventually stopped and a suspect was never and thrown her name plate in the trashcan near her office. The ambiguity of the messages made them particular disturbing to the complaintant. The VPEI had been identified. following up with complaintant since the first incident and UNMPD were involved as were the college dean and her department chair. Complaintant was informed that while the she seemed to be harassed since someone had written 4 different messages on her erase board, there was nothing to indicate that the last incident would rise to the level of a hate/bias incident. 8/22/2013 8/22/2013 NW Residence Hall Color/Race & Disability Someone wrote a letter to a resident/student and chastised them for parking in a handicapped space while accusing them of not being handicapped. It seems that the letter came from someone that knew the student. UNMPD and the Residence Life Staff investigated to determine who the letter had come from. No suspect was identified. A threat about the car losing the air in its tires was made, but no other threats were made. 9/23/2013 9/23/2013 AG Zimmerman Library Other A student was sitting at the library studying and eating her lunch. Another student came and sat adjacent to her at another table. Sincerely, " 11/15/2013 10/31/2013 CH Between Scholes and Dane Smith Halls Color/Race A student was walking between Scholes Hall and Dane Smith Hall and came across a group of 30 or so students. One of the individuals in the group had his face There does not appear to be a target nor any negative behavior directed at the painted brown. The complaintant indicates that the group leader was caucasian and it appears that the person with the painted face was also caucasian but it is not complaintant. The incident was determined to not rise to the level of being a clear about the make up of the rest of the group or what they were doing. There was no indication in the report whether they reacted to the student who happens hate/bias incident. to be Black in an derogatory or negative manner. The complaintant was offended but offers no other information to determine the purpose of the group gather or details that would determine whether a hate/bias incident was committed or whether she was being targeted. 2/27/2014 2/26/2014 RP Satellite Coffee - UNM SUB Color/Race Sometime between 3pm and 5pm someone left a comment/suggestion that said "more monkeys" in the suggestion/comment jar on the counter. They have 3 African American employees who were offended by the comment. 5/10/2014 5/10/2014 AD On-Line Color/Race; Reported to Dean of Students. A couple of Facebook posts she found offensive. Gender; Religion; Ancestry/Natio nal Origin threatened her and made disparaging comments about her/his marital status and used homophobic terms. Page 1 of 4 The VPEI called the Physical Plant to have the chalk writing removed. The complaintant did not choose to be contacted and no further action was taken. The incident was reported to the UNMPD and a statement was taken by the officer. No further action was taken. The matter did not rise to the level of a hate/bias incidence since the letter was not written because they were targeting the individual as a person with a disability but because they felt she did not have a disability and was using handicapped parking. Reported to Dean of Students Tomas Aguirre who asked to be included in meeting with employees to address their feelings about the issue. Manager from Chartwells was also included in meeting.
