Mr. Klein was appointed to the Senior Executive Service position of Assistant Commissioner, internal Affairs (now Professional Responsibilily), and sworn in on June 8, 2015. Prior to joining CBP, Mr. Klein served for 26 years with the Washington, DC. Metropolitan Police Department (MPD). Klein's leadership experience at MPD, which included positions as Commander oflntemal Affairs Division, Commander of Recruiting and Background Investigations, Director orcivil Rights and Force and Commanding Offioer of Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), uniquely prepared him to lead CBP's Office ofrrofessional Responsibility As Assistant Commissioner, Mr. Klein played a critical role reinforcing CBP's commitment to integrity and promoting accountability and transparency, During his tenure Mr. Klein spearheaded enons to advance Use of Fame investigation reams, solidified the National Use of Force Review Board process. built coalitions with the Office General and immigration and Customs Enforcement office of Professional Responsibility, improved investigative timelines, and informed and advanced the recommendations of the integrity Advisory Panel. As CBP's chief security officer, Mr. chin entranced CBP's physical, information, and personnel security programs Klein is a remarkable public servant whose contributions to CBP will benefit our agency and our nation for years to come.
