Oklahoma Office of the Attorney General Annual Report of Private Attorney Contracts Fiscal Year 2015 The Oldahoma Office of the Attorney General is required by Title 74, Section 20i(G) of Oklahoma Statutes to produce a written report on the private legal representation obtained by an agency or official of the executive branch under Section 20i, This report is to include a brief description of each contract, the circumstances necessitating each contract, and the amount paid under each contract. During Attorney General Pruitt's terms of office, spending on private attorney contracts has decreased from $11.78 million in Fiscal Year 2011, to $6.8 million in Fiscal Year 2015. The decrease in spending on private attorneys is nearly $5 million. To drive down the cost to the state, the Office of the Attorney General has increased its representation of the State, and its agencies, boards, colleges and universities. In Fiscal Year 2011, the Office of the Attorney General maintained contracts with approximately 49 state entities for representation, and under Attorney General Pruitt's leadership, that number has increased to approximately 72 state entities for Fiscal Year 2015. Total Spent on Private Attorneys Fiscal Year 2015: $ 6.8 million Fiscal Year 2011: $ 11.78 million While changes in the law and economy may impact the amount spent on private attorneys, Attorney General Pruitt is committed to assisting the State, and its agencies, boards, colleges and universities in lowering their costs of using private attorneys. By continuing to utilize the expertise available within the Office of the Attorney General, Attorney General Pruitt is able to provide more services to the State. Attorney General Pruitt presents the attached report of all private attorney contracts obtained during the Fiscal Year 2015, and representation by our office for your review.
