Help us write the Real State of the Nation Address! President Jacob Zuma will present his State of the Nation address in Cape Town on Thursday the 9th of February. But we’re tired of the pomp and ceremony of this spectacle, where the President tries to sugarcoat the corruption, scandals, incompetence and collapse that will one day be the hallmark of his time in office. We are tired of the red carpets, marching bands and fashion parades safely inside the gates of Parliament -- while millions of South Africans have to worry about where the next plate of food or cup of water will come from. We need to develop a “Real State of the Nation Address” – and that’s exactly what Save South Africa intends to do. We will be presenting our Real State of the Nation address in Cape Town on the 8th of February, the day before President Zuma speaks, where we will tell the true story of our current state of affairs. We aim to drown out his giggles with serious, achievable plans and goals on how to make our lives better. We will offer hope for the better life that all who live in South Africa deserve and can attain. And we’re asking you to help. Save South Africa invites all young people under the age of 25 to write to us and tell us what they would say to the country in a “Real State of the Nation Address”. Contributions – either written, or video clips – can be sent to info@savesouthafrica.org by January 31. Those who do not have access to email can contact us on 0860 994 134. The authors of the two winning contributions will be flown to Cape Town where they will be President for the day, and deliver extracts from their “Real State of the Nation Address” in person.
