WASHINGTON, DC - Uniled Slates Senator Elizabeth Wan'en today announced Ihe hiling of Sasha Baker to serve as
National Securin Advisor in her Washington DC office. Prior In this new position, Baker most recently sewed as the
Deputy Chief 01 Staff to Secretary oi Detense Ashlon Carter,

"Sasha is an experI in national security policy who has spent years serving our nation at the highest levels" said
Senator Warren. "Sasha's extensive experience, particularly with the kind o1 innovative detense work and scientific
research in Massachusetts that helps and protects our servicemembers, will be ot tremendous benetit to the
Commonwealth."

Until January 2017, Baker was the Deputy Chief o1 Start to the Secletary ot Detense, where she served as his senior
advisor overseeing acquisition, technology, and logistics and the development ot the Department's $533 billion base
budget and five-year investment strategy.

In this role, aaker led the Secleiary's priority innovation inilialives. including opening the Departmeni's first East Coast
ottice in Cambridge, MA: and investments in the Strategic Capabilities Office. DARPA. and the Depanmenl's
nationwide network o1 scientific labs and research centers. She was responsible for overseeing the Defense Digital
Service, a group of digital engineers working on DoD's toughest technology challenges and created the Defense
innovation Board. tasked to bring best practices trom places like Cambridge and Silicon Valley into govemment. Baker
also assisted with the Secretary's Force of the Future etton, which expanded tamin leave, created new broadening
opportunities tor military and civilian persomel, and introduced private-Sector talent management to in order to
better recmit and retain a 21st-century all volunteer torce.

Baker is a graduate of Dartmoth College and Ihe Harvard Kennedy School of Govemment,
