Orleans Parish School Board Job Title: Assistant Director of Academic Programs Work Location: School Site/ Network Office 3520 General DeGaulle Dr. Suite 5055 New Orleans, LA 70114 Unit/Department: OPSB Network Reports to: Executive Director Network Schools Job Description  Full-time  Exempt  Part-time  Nonexempt Summary The Assistant Director of Academics will work with the school leadership team and school site instructional staff to provide innovative, interactive leadership for intense support to network schools, initiatives, and program implementation. Additionally, the Assistant Director of Academics will work collaboratively with schools’ leadership teams to ensure ongoing applied professional development for continued individual growth of teachers, school-wide data analysis, and development of effective school-wide academic and assessment plans in the OPSB Network schools. . Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Assistant Director of Academic Programs is expected to have a high level of educational knowledge and must possess the ability to lead school leadership teams in curriculum and assessment development and alignment, implementation of instructional interventions and strategies, data analysis, school goal setting, development of school plans, and evaluation of teacher effectiveness.  Performs all the duties and responsibilities of the Executive Master teacher for elementary and/or high schools to include Data Analysis with Schools, Cluster Group Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation;  Leads the effort to ensure effective collaboration between master teachers and academic deans to assist in full implementation of NIET best practices and RTI process at both the elementary and high schools in the ExCEED Network schools;  Act as an liaison between the ExCEED Network and NIET representatives, and relative LDOE staff;  Leads the effort in the planning and development of guides to assist school leadership teams in effective curriculum, instruction and assessment analysis, planning and implementation;  Research and develop effective curriculum strategies relevant to specific school needs, provide implementation guidance and feedback, and evaluate and adjust in an ongoing process;  Provide guidance, technical support and onsite assistance for planning, creation, and utilization of common assessments;  In collaboration with the elementary and high school leadership teams, designs and implements a professional development plan for technology integration, implementing best practices, and efficiency of and school resource utilization; Assistant Director of Academic Programs October 2016 1 of 3  In collaboration with elementary and high school leadership teams, builds College and Career ready initiatives to support goals for higher graduation rates and lower dropout rates;  Creates collaborative teams of school site instructional staff to build vertical alignment to common core state standards on both elementary and high school campuses;  Designs and delivers quality professional development for administrators and teachers, incorporating outstanding presentation and facilitation skills;  Provides training of school site staff to establish a consistent process for ongoing collaborative learning;  Leads collaboration effort between master teachers and academic deans across elementary and high school campuses to build an environment with a common instructional focus, promote Network initiatives, and conveying Network expectations;  Develops vehicles for and encourages school site staff to participate in district, state, and national standards review committees,  Develops and submits proposals for external funding;  Performs other related duties as required. Planning and Follow-ups  Submits weekly plan of action  Submits feedback to schools detailing the work that was completed and observations made with reinforcement and refinement area(s) highlighted to assist with school and/or teacher growth.  Submits follow-ups to Executive Director and Chief Network/LEA Officer detailing the work completed, effectiveness of efforts, challenges, and next steps for each school site. Qualifications, Education and Work Experience:  Master’s degree relevant academic discipline.  Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience as measured by performance evaluations, promotions, or a portfolio of work.  Demonstrates expertise in content, curriculum development, student test/data analysis, mentoring, model teaching, and professional development.  Instructional expertise demonstrated through model teaching, team-teaching, video presentations, and student achievement gains.  Experience in classroom demonstrations and external observations;  Proof of effective professional development for individual as well as large groups;  Excellent communication skills; and proven ability to cultivate relationships and build consensus, and an understanding of how to facilitate growth in adults;  And other duties as required.
