API FILM RELEASE 

 

The State Relations Department is sending to all API state
and regional offices today (under separate cover, via UPS),
a 16 mm, colored motion picture film entitled, "Odyssey: A
Quest for Energy". The film, 28 minutes in length, was de?
scribed in some detail in State Relations Memo #l0,066
mailed to you on May 21, 1982.

 

The film is to be added to your council's library. Due to
the timely subject matter and quality of the film, we en?
courage you to begin use of the film as soon as possible.

You may wish to schedule a special state previewing of the
film with selected government and third party group leaders
invited to attend.

If you find occasional need for an additional copy of the
film, please contact your regional or Washington state re?
lations offices. We suggest that you reserve the regional/
Washington office COpieS ahead when possible.

Attached for your use is a brochure on the new film, a pat?
tern release, and a film use report form. Additional copies
of this brochure are available upon request through our of?
fice. I am enclosing also some information on the private
firm, Modern Talking Picture Service, which has been con?
tracted by the API Public Relations Department to circulate
other copies of the film nationwide on an organizational re?
quest basis. If conflicts should develop in the scheduling
of your council's copy of the film for certain service/edu?
cation groups, etc., please feel free to contact the nearest
office of Modern Talking Picture Service (MTPS) to request
an additional "loaner copy". There should be no charge for
use of MTPS copies of the API film. You may want to refer
certain groups directly to the MTPS for their own scheduling.

 

We suggest that you use your council's copy to target certain
key third party groups in your state. On a basis,
please complete the enclosed brief API Film Report and re-
turn mail it to our office. Your continuing feedback on

the comments and usage of this film will be helpful to the
Public Relations Department.

The Public Relations Department also is preparing a special
release and packet of materials to be sent to educational insti?
tutions in late summer, giving the schools the option to pur?
chase copies for their film libraries.
