A I A Comes new the af?ant, of lawful age, in Support of a probable cause finding for the detention of the'defendant or the issuance of an arrest warrant, states as follows: 1 . On February 22, 201 Tat about 7:1 5 PM. officers responded to Austin?s Bar and Grill located in Olathe, Johnson County, Kansas in response to a shooting. Upon'arriVal Officer Hasson observed two victims, Srinivas Kuchibhotla and AlokMadasani, lying in the patio area. Both victims had been shot. A third victim, lan Grillot, had also been shot and was on the north side of Austin's When Off. HasSon arrived. All three victims were transported to KU Medical Center. The suspect was described as a white-male wearing jeans, a white t-shirt with military style medals on it, and a white scarf around his head. The suspect was identi?ed as ADAM W. PURINTON. Employees at?Austin were familiar With PURINTON as a regular customer and were also able to identify him through card receipts. 2. The three victims are coworkers. Approximately thirty minutes before the -- shooting, victims Kuchibhotla and Madasani were seated together at Austin' 5 in the patio .. area. Victim Grillot and another coworker ,were alSo seated' In the patio area. told Detective Ramey that priorto the shooting PURINTON began making comments to Kuchibhotla and Madasani PURINTON continued to confront Kuchibhotla and Madasani until and Grillot asked PURINTON to leave. Austin?s employees then told to leave and he was escorted out of the establishment. 3. PURINTON retuned approximately 30 minutes later. At that point witnesses observed that PURINTON had a handgun with him. PURINTON fired multiple shots, striking Kuchibhotla and Madasani who were still in the patio area. PURINTON then fled on foot. As PURINTON was running away, Grillot began to chase him. PURINTON then. turned and shot Grillot, striking him in the Upper chest. Surveillance cameras at Austin 3 CL. EEK Ci? ii, . 17CR00514 . - Div8 recorded both the incident where PURINTON initially confronted the victims and the incidentthirty' minutes later when he returned to the bar and .shdt Kuchibhotla and Madasani. 4. All three victims were treated at KU Medical Center. VictIm Kuchibhotla had been shot at least three times and was pronounced deceased. Victim Madasani had been shot once in the leg and' Is in stable condition. Det. Matt Campbell Spoke with Madasani at the hospital. Madasani advised that he did not know why the suspect was confronting them but he does remember the suspect asking if_ their ?status was legal. He also remembered that just before the shooting he heard people saying, ?He? back and he has a gun!" Victim Grillot received a gunshot wound in the hand and upper chest. Det. Campbell was able to speak with Grillot at the hospital Grillot advised he was at Austin's with a friend watching the KU game. He observed the suspect confronting KuChibhotla and Madasani. who were coworkers of his, before the shooting. The suspect was then told to leave. Grillot said the suspect returned about thirty minutes later and shot Kuchibhotla and Madasani. The suspect then fled on foot. Grillot believed the suspect was out of ammunition and chased . after him. The suspect the tUrned and shot Grillot" In the hand and upper chest. 5.
