Solar energy is an important and growing energy source
for New Mexico, but it must be regulated in a way that is
fair for all energy consumers in our state. That?s why the
Consumer Protection and Distributed Generation

Act, and is the right policy to foster
development of more solar energy while ensuring New
Mexicans are protected by the law.

Solar energy is important to New Mexico's energy mix, and it's
becoming more prominent every day. That's why I believe this
legislation will not only foster solar energy growth, but also
ensure consumer protection. The Consumer Protection for
Distributed Generation Act (Senate Bill 210) will provide consumer
disclosures for the lease or sale of private solar equipment. At a
minimum, the act will ensure that consumers have basic
protections, including:
