E.O. ______________ April 5, 2017 EXECUTIVE ORDER OF THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF JERSEY CITY Pursuant to the authority vested in the Mayor of the City of Jersey City by law, I issue the following Executive Order to insure that the Jersey City School Public School District receives shared revenue from any future recipients of agreements pursuant to the N.J.S.A. 40A:20-1 regarding Long Term Tax Exemptions that are approved prospectus as of the effective date of this Executive Order A. Sharing a Service Charge for the Jersey City School Board from Tax Abated Projects. 1. Hereinafter, the City of Jersey City shall remit payment equal to 10% of the overall annual service charge collected pursuant to long term tax exemption ordinances under N.J.S.A. 40A:20-1 et seq. to the Jersey City School District which are, approved after the effective date of this Executive Order, This requirement shall appear in all future financial agreements, tax agreements and tax assessor administrative approved tax exemptions. 2. The payment shall be billed and collected by the Tax Collector in a separate annual service charge account and shall be due and payable in the same manner as the primary annual service charge. 3. The Executive Order shall apply to market rate residential, hotel, commercial and industrial tax abatements. 4. Any payment that is late or unpaid in whole or in part, whether billed or not, shall bear the highest rate of interest allowed by law for unpaid conventional taxes until paid in full. B. Payment to the Jersey City Board of Education On or before December 31ST of each year, the City shall transfer over to the Jersey City Board of Education the amount of the service charges collected This Executive Order shall be kept on file in the Office of the City Clerk and the Business Administrator.
