. w. DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION POLICY The are administrative policies for the Administrative Of?ce of the Courts? Department of Administrative Services relating to confidential information and shall apply to all employees of the Department of Administrative Services. This policy shall be interpreted and enforced in conjunction with the KCOJ Personnel Policies, including but not limited to Section 2.02, pertaining to confidential information. 1. Confidential information shall be defined as any idea or information not otherwise available to the general public, including, but not limited to, information relating to audits, investigations, personnel, the bidding process for services or goods, facilities, and any information specifically identified as confidential by the Executive Officer of the Department of Administrative Services or the AOC Director or designee. 2. Employees shall disclose confidential information only insofar as necessary and appropriate for the completion of their legitimate job duties and only in the furtherance of the interests of the ADC. 2. Employees shall not use confidential information in any way except for the purpose set forth in Paragraph 2 above. 3. Employees shall use their best efforts to prevent and protect confidential information, or any part thereof, from disclosure to any person other than AOC personnel having a need for disclosure in connection with AOC job-related use ofthe confidential information. 4. Employees shall take all steps reasonably necessary to prevent confidential information from falling into the public domain or into the possession of unauthorized persons. 5. If an employee is uncertain as to whether any information obtained during the course oftheir employment is confidential information, it is the responsibility of the employee to seek guidance and clarification from their appointing authority prior to the disclosure of such information to any third party, including other AOC employees not within the employee?s department. 6.
