Smith in reference to responding to Retreat at Twin L~kes to process a homicide scene. I arrived on scene at approximately 1955 hours and met with Officer Ayala and Officer Mead who briefed me on the scene. Currently at this time In the evening, It was dark out and we were experiencing Intermittent showers. At that time, I walked through the scene with the officer's and they pointed out Items of evidence that were already located, It was stili raining at this time. It was dark outside, raining off and on, and there was not much light lighting up In the courtyard. There were a set of keys containing a small flash light that was on, a coli phone, larger flashlight, two plastic bags, fll1lt aid kIt, medical supplies, the victim's body that was cover&d by a yellow medical blanket, and an Arizona tea can. According to Officer's on the scene, the Arizona tea can was originally located In the front pocket of the vlotim's jacket. I then retrieved my camera and started to photogl1lph the scene while I waited for the Vol usIa County Medical Examiners Office transport servIces to arrive. After my photographs of the Initial scene Were completed, Sgt Ciesla and I measured the Items on the Slcene and then I collected them, The Volusla Coonty Medical Examiner's Office arrived on scene and moved the vlotlm. The victim had $ 40.15 in US currency, a bag of skittles. red lighter, headphones, photo pin in hIs pockets or on him. I also noticed and documented that there was only a aingle gun shot wound to the chest. After the victim was transported, Sgt. CIesla and I looked for a cartridge case while It was stili raining. Sgt. Ciesla uttlized a metal detector as I searched In the areas the detector would deteot. A short time later, a 9mm Luger S&B cartrldge case was located, documented, and recovered. AI! eVidence will be transported to the Sanford Police Department and logged Into evidence. After I photographed Zimmerman's clothing, hands, and InJuries, I asked him if he had any other injuries that were not visible. Zimmerman stated that he did not other than his back hurting but he did not think he had any outs or bruises. A short time later, his wife arrived at the Sanford Police Department and provided us wlth a change of clothes for Zimmerman. At that time, Zimmerman changed his clothing and placed them into brown paper bags that I provided for him. When he was done changing, he was escorted back to the intelView room. All of this evidence will be logged into evidence. On 02(27(2012 at approximately 1235 hours, I responded to Retreat at Twin Lakes to take some photographs of the courtyard In the daylight. Wendy Monday, September 26, 2011 2:28 PM MCAULlFF~, JAMES Retreat at Twin lakes-NW Microsoft Word - NW FlyerTemplate.pdf I just wanted to let you know that the NW at Retreat at Twin Lakes was great! We had 25 residents attend, The major concerns were the burglaries. I did share with them the crime stats from JUly till present and there were 5 burglaries (2 were construction sites} and 4 out or the 5 burglaries were no forcE!. I emphasized on preventing burglary by lockin9 doors and windows, in addition I offered to came to their home for CPTED inspections. There are other concerns that residents have with the HOA regarding lighting, and the rentals In the community '.vhich I am going to address with the HOA president. 5g!. Herx and Officer Buchanan from patrol were present. They answered questions and provided some tips as well. Officer Buchanan also mentioned that there was iii possible arrest going to be made on one of the burglaries or that they made one. It would have been ideal to have an investigator present to address the comm unity regard Ing the status of the burglaries, but they did not show. I made a request for an investigator on August 31~1. See below email. please letthe Chief know that we had a great tum out aUhe meeting, and that.all the comments from the residents about SPD were positive. The NW Coordinator will be providing me with the block captain list and telephone tree in the next week or so. \'{lendy Dotival Volunteer Progtru:n Coordinator Sanford Police Department 815 West 13th Street Sanford FI, 32771 tel:407.688.507Q ext. 6008 c&321.696.4419: fax:407.688.5071 wendy.dQrival@sanfordfl.gov Visit our website lit \V1,v,v,sanfordpouce.mg From: SCOTT, DARREN Sent: Wednesday, August 31, 201110:40 AM To: MITCHELL, ROBERT; BARNES, ARTHUR Cc: Dorival, WendYi Lee, 13m Subject: FW: Retreat at Twin Lairnent company provide them !;Iith a background check etc. Does the board approve the l~ental applicants?
