Apparent blood droplets were also discovered on the ground in front of 2517 and 2519 Minnesota Avenue, Southeast. Crime scene technicians responded to the scene and recovered both handguns, as well as eight nine?millimeter shell casings from the sidewalk and parking lot in front of the Wah-Sing Restaurant. They subsequently determined that the handgun recovered from under the Decedent was a Smith Wesson nine?millimeter, with an expended casing jammed in the chamber and a loaded magazine. The handgun recovered near the Defendant was determined to be an empty Bersa nine-millimeter. Other items of evidence were also recovered, including an orange/pink rag or washcloth from the parking lot. Your Af?ant, Detective Jonathan Jordan, along with other members of the Homicide Branch responded to the scene to investigate the offense. As a part Of this investigation, Detectives Braxton and Littlejohn viewed recorded footage from the Wah-Sing?s video security system and observed the following: At approximately 2131 hours, the Defendant, wearing a black jersey with ?19? on it, shorts, and a pinkish rag on his head, enters the restaurant. (It should be noted that this DVR is set two minutes behind real time, so the time?stamp at this point reads 2129 hours.) The Decedent was already inside the restaurant at the time. A short time later, the Defendant and decedent converse with each other at the counter. The Decedent later turns and retrieves what appears to be a cellular telephone from a nearby female and begins to utilize the device. Meanwhile, the Defendant, with his back towards the counter, watches the Decedent while he is on the telephone. At approximately 2145 hours, the Defendant walks out of the restaurant, passing the Decedent in the entry-way. Still talking on the phone, the Decedent exits the restaurant after the Defendant. Seconds later, the Decedent is observed running while being pursued by the Defendant. Multiple shell casings were found in that immediate area. The Defendant then turns back around and disappears from View. The Metropolitan Police Department?s Shot?Spotter system registers the sound of gunshots in this immediate area at this time. Your Af?ant also viewed video footage from the security system of another nearby business. At 2145 hours in that footage, a black male subject that appears to be the Defendant (in shorts and a black shirt with what appear to be the number ?19? in white numbers on it) runs from the parking lot of the Wah~Sing Restaurant, across Avenue, Southeast, then into the lot of the BP Sewice Station across the street. The Defendant then disappears from view toward the 2500 block of Minnesota Avenue, Southeast. The orange/pink rag?the same one the Defendant had on prior to the shooting?was recovered from the parking lot in the ?ight path of the Defendant.
