Engine Plant - High chlorides in washers coolant systems found to cause part rust
issues/q uality issues especially with steel, nodular and gray iron parts such as blocks and
cranksha?s.

Assembly Plant High chlorides in phosphate system leading to streaking. There is more water
and chemical usage due to higher chlorides and hardness at cooling towers. Higher maintenance
costs on R0 systems in plant.

City of Flint wants to work with us. They have all the key peeple/decision makers present here at
the meeting to proceed and work with us. Recognize the speed we need to ?x chloride levels.

GM Global Facilities to hire Engineering Firm to do hydraulic study for water demand and
provide recommendations for county water tie-in with estimated costs. Once a recommendation
is chosen, provide engineering for the construction. The Engineering is to look at feasibility of
supplying water to the Assembly Plant at the same time. The funding for Engineering and

Construction costs to be looked at internally at GM.

Concurrently with the engineering, City of Flint to start meeting today with the MDEQ and
Genesee County Drain Commission for issues concerning tap-in plans, permits, approvals,

metering/bil ling etc.

Costs could be handled through rate structure of water usage.

Meeting concluded to a plant-tour of some machining operations including coolant systems and
pans washers to Visually famniarize the City with our quality issues and costs.
