Fear Point Road Connection (Road ?34 ?9

This route, herein called Road runs scutherly along the eastern boundary of the
Island Recreation property and connects to Pear Point Road approximately?OZS-B miles
east of Argyle Road.

The proposed alignment intersects with Pear Point Road near the current trailhead
parking area for the Island Recreation property. Pear Point road from the west is
relatively flat with adequate sight distance. However, east of the parking area a pair of
curves limits sight distance to approximately 250 feet.

The estimated length of this alignment is 16.25 feet, although the exact amount of
roadway construction depends on the intersection configuration and location.

Please refer to Alternatives 1, 2, 4 and 6 for further analysis of the impacts of this route.
GEOGRAPHY 8: TOPOGRAPHY

The alignment traverses a former gravel quarry that slopes gently down to the center of
the parcel. The construction of the roadway would require moderate cut and fill slopes
for most of its length. The Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) maps the soils
in this area as ?Gravel Pit?; the soil is a sandy gravel or graveiiy sand that wouid likely
provide an excellent subgrade for road construction.

Connection TO PEAR POINT ROAD

Numerous opportunities exist for intersection configurations with Pear Point Road.
Depending on the needs and long?range plans of lsiand ReCreation, the following
intersections configurations are possible:

. Road forms a T?intersectiOn with existing Pear Point Road.
. Construct a roundabout tangent to current alignment of Pear Point Road
SIGHT DISTANCE EVALUATION

Sight distance issues for this alternative exist mostly in the S?curve of Pear Point Road
east of the parking lot. The issue relates more to intersection sight distance (horizontal
alignment issues) than stopping sight distance (vertical obstructions to visibility), which
does not appear to be an issue.
