Shelley advising he was currently with Officer shyne at a residence in which a temule juvenile states she was abducted from her bed, sexually assaulted, then returned to her bed. 1 inmediately turned around and drove back to Fallon. I went to the police department to retrieve my camera and other equipment. There I met with Office: Riley who had been called in to assist with [he investigationl From there i drove to the residence st Fallon, churchill, Nevada. on arrival I met with sgt. Shelley and officer shyne Sgt. Shelley briefed me to the to and Officer shyne Arrived and were told the victim in this case, told her mother that during the night a men came into her room, restrained her, carried her away from the huuse, stuck something in her butt, made her suck on something like lollipop, then returned her to the residencel She also said she had been placed in a bath and made to wash up. aster infaming me of the details or the cell, 89:. Shelley said he and otticer shyne had dusted tor ringer prints, and were currently inspecting same foot impressions in the back yard, The back yard was bare dirt and contained numerous foot impressions from the same shoe, Sgt. Shelley showed Officer Riley and I the shoe impressions. The impressions were of a distinct pattern with the letters within the pattern or the role, The shoe impressions seen in the yard indicated they were made on more than one occasion as there were obviously distcrent ages ot the shoe impressions in the yard. 1 could determine the ditterent ego of shoe impressions hosed on the current depth, erosion, and the sharpness of the detail contained within. The Shoe impressions were in the yard in an arcing fashion from both side gates of the yard then around the South east [0 an area below the bedroom windows of the victim and her sister, After viewing and phctographing the Shae impressions, Officer Riley and vent inside the residence. 1 couid see the victim and her sister sitting on the couch in the living room with their grandmother,-- The victim did not seem distraught at this time. He was able to identify hare feet impressions or prints on the floor from the family. of note is the fact the floors in the living area near the doors and down the hall to the bedrooms was wood, that appears to be cleaned frequently. Foot and shoe impressions are easily seen using the oblique lighting technique. The officers on scene made a conscious effort to avoid any areas of foot traffic so as not to introduce their own foot inpressions, During the processing of the scene, 1 had knowledge a registered sex offender lived a short distance away I re asked 59:. ShelJEy and DfEiCer snyne make contact with this person, and Search his residence and yard for anythil'l that would match with this investigation. I later went to the residence left and searched his residence with his consent. There was no evidence, shoes, or other information to support_ was involved. Aftex processing the residence and yard, 1 requested the mother of the victim bring her to my office for an interview. The following is a summary of that interview, not verbatim or chronological. 1 used the Cornerhouse method of child interviews for this particular interview. I began by establishing simple ground rules for the interview. The ground rules consisted of a promise to tell the truth, permission to correct me if I stated something that was inaccurate, and permission to use adult words when describing something heard, said, or read, I then began the rapport building portion of the interview by asking her name, date of birth, address, and phone numher. during this portion of the interview I use techniques learned during training in interview and interrogation as well as forensic interviewing of children to watch for clues of truth and deception. I then asked _who lives at her house with her. During this portion of the questioning I wrote her responses down on a sheet of paper, using the names or descriptions she provided as a point of reference to mirror her own terms to identify these people. --first identified mom-s husoand v- to descrioe her stepfather who she later identified by the name - . she then identified her sister - named short for_ she then identified her self. wext she told me she had a dog named - and a cat named she did not list her mother at this time. _thsn told me she also stays at her grandmother's house scmetimes. She was ible to rovlde the address of and her grandmother is named she toid she has another sister named- who lives with friends. Then she told me her father-s name is - _said she hardly ever sees him. after this introduction portion, 1 asked-to tell me what happened. said a guy came into her room and put duct tape around her eyes. I asked if she could describe the duel: [592' She said it was the silver kind. when telling me about the duct tape, she had put her hands up near her eyes, using her thumb and forefinger to outline her eyes. Report for Incident F13--02373 Page 9 of 15 The man then out handcuffs on her arms and legs then left with her. I asked wher.was. she said she was in her bedi I asked what she was wearing. Said she doesn't wear clothes to bed. She then described the guy put her on his bed. He put his private in her butt and made poop come out. she said he was naked and was on her back she then added that he put his private on her front and back, At the end, he told her she had to suck on his thing like a lollipop. She described it as wet. she also described he was kissing her and licking her tongue. At the end of all this he made her take a bath, washing her sides. Then he put lotion on her. she said all of these things happened at his house. When I asked how they got to his house, she said he drove her there. He made her sit in the front with a jacket on. I asked what they drove in. she said it was a black Ford truck. I asked how she knew it was a black Ford truck. she told me she asked him what they were in and he said they were in his black Ford truck. _alsc told he she had asked the guy what time it was, and he told her 3:30. I asked-if she knew who the guy was. she told me no. I asked her it she had been able to see anything, again she said no. At one point though-contradicted herself by stating she was able to see from under the tape, demonstrating she tilted her head and was looking down belaw her nose. After this demonstration she still said she could not see anything when I asked what she saw. A: no point during this did-tell he she cried out or called for help. I asked her why she did not after her demonstrations or tape being over her eyes. had not pointed to her mouth or covered hEr mouth at any time so I asked her if She ever cried out for help. She then told me she did not and said her mouth had heen covered with tape. 1 asked-how they got back to her house--aha the gay walked her back to the house. took her inside, released her and told her to go to bed. I asked _why she did not tell anybody what happened at that time, she said he told her to go to sleep, and if she didn't he would have to come back and they would do it again. 1 used an anatnmical drawin of a pre pubescent girl and boy to clarity what words or terms dsed to describe body parts. --identitied the parts on the girl drawing as hair, eyes, nose, Muth, lips, boobs, stomach. belly huttoh, legs, knees, teet, back, butt, and back of the test. when identifying the genitals She said she was nor. sure, then called it private. I asked who has body parts like thlt. She identified herself, mother. sister, and Grandma. then asked--where she was touched. _pointed to the mouth, "private", butt, and hair. I then showed-a drawing at a pre pubescent boy. identified the following body parts on this drawing. Hair, eyes, nose, mouth, hoohs, belly button, knees, :eet, back of the hair, baCk, butt. and baCk o: the feet. when I asked to identify the genitalia, she told me she was not sure what it is called. 1 asked haw long she thought she had heeh with the guy. _toid me if. was about 40 minutes 5118 His not ex Lite 50 this VIE an estimate only. At the conclusion of the exam I met with both ladies. They told me there were zero findings on - Specifically no evidence or penetration anally or vaginally. In the report prepared by narian and peb after the exam, under "Overall assessment" the form indicates "Possible Abuse" and a check box is marked indicating "Child has made 3 concerning statement nr description of abuse, without This is in bold type physical exam findings'fl of notice to me at this point in time is not necessarily the physical evidence Collected, such as the bedding and what latent prints were processed, but the lack of physical eVidence. There are her were there any physical marks from being restrained as indicated by_ Also or note is the absence of physical exam findings. Also, when I spoke with she was able to provide some information in her story, but when I asked Clarifying questions, her answers were not consistent with her behavior during the rapport building process. 1 do not believe _is intentionally deceiving anybody, but obviously her story is not supported by any evidence. In watching her body language while she speaks with me, I feel she believes something happened to her, however the cause of this belief is not knawn. Based on this, I questioned and _if could be suffering from a medical condition, sleepwalking, or any other plausible explanation for her story. After "an I determined 1 would ask-to have a general pediatric exam of with a complete panel of blood work to see if there is a medical issue. after the exam, 1 drove-and to their residence On arrival to the residence 1 spoke th and her husband out any Children present, I explained to them how when I spoke with she was able to tell me general details in her Story, however when I q'ueSCaned her for clarity, she was unable to immediately pIDvide me with an answer. i then discussed with the absence or physical evidence is just as important as tinding physical evidence, and in this absence o5 physical evidence on and within the house, indicates 5 net: a Victim of abduction or sexual assault. I further explained 1 belive that-believes what she is saying, however she is unable tn provide specific clarifying detail on certain aspects and I question if 5 Vivid dzeam DZ sleepwelking episode that may have brought this about Wand-seemed to understand what i explained. They did ask me to clarity or demonstrate how the oblique lighting technique was able to determine what foot prints or impressions were present or absent. I took-and- nto the living room and demonstrated the obl lighting technique During this demonstration i was able to identity '5 shoe impression - in and out or his bedroom on several occasions. I could also see where in and out ot her bedroom several times since this morning. both stated I was oorrect in what saw. After this demonstration seemed more at ease with what I told them, however they were distraught over why--thought this event happened.- to me there was a history at mental health issu the family. #2 father suffers from paranoid schizophrenia, and" brother and a er both had a history of mental health. on the morning of april 5, 2013, i met with-and-at their Report In! I asked it there was a family history of diabetes. she said there was. I asked 5 she could look further into the matter. 1 then asked is I could have consent to speak to the pediatrician that saw-. I was told I could. While there, I asked-if he had taken any measures to secure the home or check the yard tor new footprints. He said the day we first responded he had kicked all the foot prints in the back yard to create a clean surface to detect any shoe prints. -said he had bought adlocks for all the gates, and made sure the doors to the house were secured. *told me there were no new soot prints in the back yard.
