RESOLUTION #81 (Series of 2016) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO, ADOPTING AS A PLANNING DOCUMENT THE WATER SUPPLY AVAILABILITY STUDY 2016 UPDATE AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO IMPLEMENT THE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR MONITORING CONTAINED IN SAID STUDY ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO. WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the Water Supply Availability Study 2016 Update, a true and accurate copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit “ A”; and WHEREAS, the subject study is designed to inform future planning decisions regarding the City of Aspen’s Comprehensive Water Management Program, and WHEREAS, the availability study incorporates the latest science available regarding the effects of climate change on water supply specific to the Aspen area, and WHEREAS, the mid term (less than 20 years in the future) projects necessary to address water supply gaps identified in the subject study are already included in the City’s Asset Management Plan, and WHEREAS, the study recommends a monitoring program to document the extent of actual climate change as it affects hydrology of local streams that provide water for Aspen’s municipal and other water uses, and Whereas, it is in the public interest to closely monitor future trends to adapt the City’s Comprehensive Water Management Program to recognize the effects of these climatic shifts. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASPEN, COLORADO, That the City Council of the City of Aspen hereby adopts as a planning document the Water Supply Availability Study 2016 Update Study, a copy of which is annexed hereto and incorporated herein, and does hereby authorize the City Manager to implement the recommendations of the study pertaining to future data collection and monitoring.
