Ed Shadmx Aaron" We are not providing on--camera interviews, but I can provide you the following statement on the Parkview situation. The school district has followed its processes and procedures in this case In order to investigate a complicated matter, involving numerous students it takes time. Because this investigation occurred over the summer, there were factors such as vacations and other schedule conflicts that meant that students and parents were not available as they would be during the regular school yearr Therefore, accommodations were made to address the conflicts and to ensure the matter was thoroughly investigated and that each student received due process. In this case, several students were notified that the district would hold a disciplinary hearing to provide them due process. An injunction was filed to stop the hearing: however, a judge denied the request for the injunction. The question of whether this was a school matter is very clear. This was a school--related it was a Parkview High School summer baseball program and all of the students were Parkview High School students at the time Regarding the hearing and its The district has an obligation not to release confidential information about the students involved, disciplinaiy consequences recommended, or any other confidential information that could lead to the identity of a student. Any students who received consequences during this process do have an opportunity to appeal the outcome. Gwinnett County Public Schools is committed to creating a safe. positive enwonment for our students and the school system takes student safety very seriously.
