I serve as policy director for RLDF and RAGA. I look forward to speaking with each office in the near future and working with you on important policy matters. Please find attached the text of a letter General Scott Pruitt is asking you to consider lending your signature. This letter will be issued by General Pruitt's office and is in response to the attached February 5 memo from the EPA's Office of Inspector General which declares its intent to investigate hydraulic tracking's impact on water supplies and evaluate the state's ability to regulate such impacts. Gen. Pruitt responded to this memo in an individual letter dated April 5. The text of the sign-on letter below substantially incorporates those comments but uses language to reflect a multi-state approach. The letter makes the following points: • The EPA's has failed to link impact in three previous studies and DoE has found not linkage to groundwater contamination. • The States have a long, successful history of regulating hydraulic tracking and are best situated to continue this monitoring. • The proposed study goes beyond the stated purpose and mission of the OIG. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me at or bsanderson@ruleoflawdefensefund.org. We request that all offices wishing to sign-on to do so by COB Thursday, May 8. If you wish to sign-on, please send to me a copy of your electronic signature. Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to meeting you soon. https:/!rnail.google.com/mail/u/OI?ui=2&ik=52af34c399&view=pt&q=%40ruleoflawdefensefund.org&qs=true&searct....query&th= 145e13cbb58ae26f&simI= 145e13cbb58ae26f 314 Brian Sanderson Policy Director RULE OF LAW DEFENSE FUND bsandelson @Ruleo?.amDefenseFund.org
