MINUTES OF THE
NEW ORLEANS COLLEGE PREP ACADEMIES
CEO SEARCH COMMITTEE MEETING
FRIDAY, MARCH 31, 2017
1:00 P.M.
A meeting of the CEO Search Committee was held at Cohen College Prep, on Friday,
March 31, 2017.
The following committee members were present:
Stephen J. Boyard, Jr.
Julia Walker
Grisela A. Jackson
The following person was also in attendance:
Maggie Runyan-Shefa Chief Operating Officer, NSNO.
The meeting served as a preliminary discussion with Ms. Runyan-Shefa, as to the
role NSNO could play in our search for a new CEO. She was informed that College
Prep will be procuring the services of an independent, third party search firm to
conduct the CEO search.
Ms. Runyan-Shefa shared that NSNO could assist our efforts in procuring an
independent search firm. NSNO can contribute a portion of the cost of the search
firm and can provide guidance and advice through the process. NSNO does not
choose the firm and NSNO does not vote on the candidate(s).
Ms. Runyan-Shefa shared that NSNO had played a similar role in the recent CEO
Search of the RENEW CMO. She also shared that the number of search firms are
few and mentioned two firms: A local firm, The Offor-Walker Group, and a national
firm, Bellwether Education Partners. She suggested that at a minimum three firms
should submit proposals; the committee discussed hoping to have at least five firms
respond to the RFP.
The committee decided that Jonathan Tebeleff, College Prep’s Chief Financial Officer,
should be consulted because of his experience in conducting the RFP process for
other operational needs of the school. It was discussed that the process must
adhere to legal and ethical requirements.
The committee also decided that the Board President, Peter Harding, should become
a member of the committee, and that Board Member Barbara McPhee should also
become a part of the committee because of her past CEO experience.
The meeting ended at approximately 2:00 p.m. No future meeting date was set.
