Liberal Democrat info@tombrake.co.uk Carshalton and Wallington The Rt Hon Amber Rudd MP Secretary of State for the Home Department Home Office Direct Communications Unit 2 Marsham Street London SW1 4DF My Ref: 14 June 2017 I am writing to you regarding the ongoing inquest into the death of Alexander As you will be aware, the allegations made regarding Mr death raise important questions about Russian corruption and money laundering activities within the UK and potentially criminal acts which resulted in Mr death. I am aware that you have invoked national security powers to withhold evidence from the inquest into Mr cause of death, and have withheld certain information from other authorities involved in previous investigations into this case. I recognise that this decision would have not been taken but I believe it is important that the Government are transparent and fully co-operative in any investigation of this nature, something with which I am sure you will agree. It is important that the Government and your department do not turn a blind to matters relating to Russian corruption and money laundering in the UK, yet unfortunately I was disappointed to see previously your department?s unwillingness to fully investigate money laundering activities within the UK, linked to those involved in the murder of Sergei Magnitsky. This unwillingness was reflected in the time it took for the UK to gain its own Magnitsky Act after Tom Brake - Working Hard for Carshalton and Wallington Serving All the People - All the Year Round Liberal Democrat info@tombrake.co.uk Carshalton and Wallington multiple media investigations into suspect money in the UK. I am therefore writing to you to ask you to make a public statement regarding Mr death and the ongoing inquest. I believe that it is to the public?s benefit for the Government to be forthright on what assessment they have made regarding this matter and if they believe a criminal act occurred. Thank you in advance for your assistance on this matter.
