Dear Dr. Escobedo:

I have reviewed the December 15, 2016 Memorandum of Findings from the
Of?ce of University Equity and Civil Rights Compliance, (the 
Report?), and the recommendations from Dr. Katherine Iellison, Dean Robert
Frank, and Executive Vice President and Provost Pam Benoit. I have also
reviewed your January 3 1, 2017 letter to your English Department Colleagues.
After care?illy considering these materials, I have decided to initiate dismissal
proceedings against you in accordance with Faculty Handbook Section II (D)

The grounds for dismissal are that for an extended period of years you have
engaged in a pattern of sexual advances directed at students whom you
supervised, graded, or advised as well as at colleagues in your department. The
incidents that formed the basis for my decision are set forth in detail in the
ECRC Report. Your actions violated Policy No. 03.004 and Faculty
Handbook Section 11 (Q).

You are entitled to a hearing before a faculty committee to determine whether
you should be removed from your tenured position. Your request for this

hearing must be received in my of?ce no later than the close of business on
April 3, 2017.
