Su b je c t : could you t ake a look at t his Kevin: This is the budget that we put together for the boot camp project It is by no means locked in stone but we do want to finalize something within a week or so Can you take a look at it and see what you think We anticipated 25 participants 15 scientists and 10 grad students We budgeted $7500 for you (too little?) and $25,000 for Cami or someone else as they central organizer You can see have budget lines for $500 honoraria for the professors, and cover all costs We also set aside $15,000 for event costs rooms, video production, and food Not sure if that's realistic or how much can be picked up by University (will it charge for use of facilities, etc ) We also figure all the trainers you, me, Bruce Chassy, etc would get $2500 as a teaching fee (so your fee total would be $10,000) Do these numbers make sense? Should we have more participants? What might we be missing here? Like to review it over the phone when you have a chance Jon From Folta, Kevin M. The budget covers travel for 25 people, including 10 students. Do you believe we should offer more? We do not yet have an outreach/Swat team proposal. What do you have in mind when you say 'cost of deployment'? We have a separate budget line (not shown here) for ongoing outreach as part of this, such as quaterly webinars. What else do you have in mind. "Sending out" those we train? Part of what we were hoping to do is to pick people based on hotspots...so someone from Oregon for next year, which is a labeling initiative state, someone from Hawaii, etc. What are your thoughts. Need to put it in concrete form and assign a budget number to it. Yes, check on potential facilities costs. as that could change budget significantly. Yes, we can consider speakers...I thought we'd be able to get some speakers to come who might donate their time...such as from Ag companies or elsewhere. Do you have specific types of people in mind? My main concern now is not names but figuring how much they might cost...we need a realistic budget. Any places where budget is obviously too fat or too thin?
