It is with mixed feelings that I tender my resignation from the Ohio $3
Health effective close of business February 2, 2007. The past three years have provide?t 
wonderful opportunity for me to work with dedicated colleagues in public heath. It has
also given me the unique privilege of supporting quality abstinence education projects
across the state as manager of the Department?s Abstinence Education Program.

While my intention has always been to give my best efforts to the deveIOpment of
the Abstinence Program, I have been the one to gain the deepest benefits in the midst of
that pursuit. 1 don?t believe I have ever met more dedicated, sel?ess and caring people as
those who work in organizations funded through our progriarn. It is not difficult to
understand why so many youth share that abstinence educators have stimulated life?
changing, healthy decisions in their individual lives through after?school and
community?based projects made possible with Title Section 510 abstinence funding.

1 am committed to the primary health messages inherent in abstinence education
and hope that this message will be a vital part of both prevention and health promotion
initiatives within the new administration.

I will continue to work in the field of abstinence education through my new
position as Executive Director of the National Abstinence Education Association
(NAEA), a professional association based in Washington DC, which is committed to the
support of quality efforts advocating for America?s youth. I do hope that this new
opportunity will open up additional avenues to encourage the efforts of Ohio?s abstinence
education program here at the Ohio Department of Health. I look forward to a continued
collegial relationship with you and the new leadership at the Ohio Department of Health.
