DIANNE JACOB SUPERVISOR, SECOND DISTRICT SAN COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS June 29, 2017 Erica Pinto, Chairwoman amul Indian Village PO. Box 612 Jamul, CA 91935 Dear MW 1 am writing again to urge the amul Indian Village (J IV) to be a good neighbor and restrict access to the casino until all of the required highway and road improvements are in place. More than ever, recent traf?c statistics underscore the need for swift action. During the casino?s ?rst months of operation, from October 2016 to May 31, 2017, the California Highway Patrol reported 99 collisions, 13 DUI?related collisions, and 10 DUI arrests on the stretch of SR-94 impacted by the casino. The collision numbers appear to be on a record pace for the year. The serving of alcohol at the casino has further added to the driving dangers. In an August 25, 2016 letter to the editor in the San Diego Union Tribune, you stated, ?We have spent 25 years working on plans and solutions intended to address traf?c issues. Our tribe has committed approximately $20 million toward road improvements identi?ed by the California Department of Transportation.? Where are the promised $20 million in highway improvements and when will they be completed? As of the writing of this letter, the only improvement in place is the traf?c signal in front of the casino and some frontage improvements. It is clear that IV has shirked its responsibility to the public in lieu of casino pro?ts. Lastly, I once again call upon JIV to immediately cease the serving of alcohol at the casino until it is demonstrated that there are no traf?c safety issues and the highway improvements promised by IV are in place and working effectively. I will continue to hold the IV leadership responsible for any injury or loss of life due to the life threatening situation you have caused on SR 94 because of your broken promises. 1600 PACIFIC ROOM 335 .
