I'll prioritize this so that it can get online asap. The attached is a first whack, but I really like it. I cut it down a lot from earlier iterations for an internet audience, but look forward to your adjustments. Thanks for this wonderful opportunity. Kevin Kevin M. Subject: Re: nye Hey Kevin, Good talking with you. Some more ideas. I think we phrase it as as "open letter" from one scientist to the science guy. You write a very deferential, respectful letter, saying how you've long admired him and and appreciated how he's been such a great ambassador for science, yada, yada, yada. ..But that as a plant scientist, you respectfully disagree with how he's characterized agricultural biotechnology, specifically in his new book and in his comments at Reddit. yada, yada, yada. You cite perhaps the most egregiously mistaken claim or two as an example. You do this in very neutral language. Nothing confrontational. And I set this up by introducing you this way: Kevin Folta is the Billy Nye of GMOs (of course much less well known) But you're out there, trying to educate people about the science, debating naysers (at Hofstra, etc), just like Nye does with creationism and climate denialism. Sound good! Best, Keith On Fri, Nov 7, 2014 at 6:57 AM, Folta, Kevin M. wrote: Cool. Kevin M.
