Protection, but not too much. . .
At its annual conventions, the American Farm Bureau always adopts
an incredibly detailed policy statemehrfOfTES £>5w year on how the or­
ganization feels about every conceivable issue, from wool and mohair
research (in favor) to the metric system and “one-world government”
(against).
Section 610 of the new Farm Bureau platform is entitled “Environ­
mental Protection,” and it contains two sentences. F irs t “Farm Bureau
has a deep and abiding interest in the protection of the envii-onment,
based on philosophical beliefs and practical self-interest”
And second: “We recommend that the Environmental Protection
Agency be abolished.”
