Media Contact: Donnell Jackson (504) 304-3524 Communications@opsb.us Laura Hawkins (504) 373-6200 Laura.hawkins@rsdla.net ORLEANS PARISH SCHOOL BOARD AND RECOVERY SCHOOL DISTRICT CONDUCT SCHOOL WATER QUALITY ASSESSMENTS NEW ORLEANS – (July 29, 2016) – Since April, the Orleans Parish School Board (OPSB) and Recovery School District (RSD) have been working closely with Materials Management Group, Inc., to design a lead risk assessment of water in Orleans Parish schools. “Both the OPSB and RSD take the health and safety of our students very seriously,” said OPSB Superintendent Dr. Henderson Lewis Jr. “We have acted proactively from the beginning, taking the necessary steps to implement a review of the water in our schools and facilities. While no complaints have been made at this time, should any issues be found, we are prepared to act quickly in order to ensure a safe environment for all of our students in Orleans Parish.” The project is scheduled to begin this fall and will work to identify health and safety risks, as well as the source of any contamination.
