"The South Florida Environmental Report is a compilation of scientific reports, fiscal and programmatic reports and permit compliance
documentation that undergoes a rigorous public input process to ensure its accuracv before it is published. The public review and comment
period is approximately a month long. During this duration of time, all scientific reports are subject to independent professional peer
review, during which time feedback can be submitted through public meetings or posted through the working site known as the SFER Peer
Review and Public WebBoard. These mechanisms collect scienti?c and general discussion, which are then presented to the authors of each
SFER chapter. Content authors then take each comment under advisement and, in some cases, modifv their portion of the report accordingly.
This multistage progression allows for anv one - scientist, engineer, paid contractor, environmental advocate, member ofthe public, etc. to
scrutinize or champion what will appear as the final product. We SFER is a shining example of a public step?bv?step process effective in
soliciting feedback from professionals, as well as the general public, who work, live and seek to make a difference in South Florida's water
management system."
