This included consultations with environmental health experts and a discussion of various options for testing and protection that occurred over the last 12 months. Based on the opinion of the experts we consulted, together we decided to move forward with installing filtration systems on all drinking water receptacles in all schools. These systems will filter lead from the water supply and will be installed on all water fountains and all kitchen water sources in district owned facilities. The Orleans Parish School Board will be accepting bids at the end of August for the installation of these filters and installation will take place later this fall. The installation of these filters should have a minimal impact on school operations as water service will NOT be interrupted. Once contracts are awarded an installation schedule will be developed and this schedule will be shared with schools. If you have any questions in the meantime about how this will impact your school, please reach out to Tiffany Delcour at Tiffany.Delcour@rsdla.net. Sincerely, Kunjan Narechania
