City Council candidate Ann C. Lewis (Ballot lines: Democratic) 1) Do you support the RBTL/Morgan proposal for Parcel 5 - Yes/No and why? I strongly believe the Rochester Broadway Theatre League proposal for parcel 5 is a good starting point which has initiated needed discussion as to what do the major stakeholders of Rochester want to place in downtown Rochester. It is unfortunate that many of the residents seem to be at a boiling point. i am hoping that the city administration will establish public hearings, within each of the four quadrants of the city, to allow the residents? concerns and recommendations to be heard, minus the atmosphere of hostility and political motives. 2) On what topic/issue do you most disagree with the current city administration, and why? On which are you most aligned, and why? i disagree with a handful of polices established by our current or the former city administration. For example; the booting of residents cars, the fees a home owner has to pay for a permit, prior to commencing to making repairs or modifications to one?s own home. I am opposed to the excessive property taxes, and the hurdles small business owners are forced to jump through to maintain or establish a business, the fees that taxi cab drivers are required to pay to operate their cabs, the lack of support day care providers fail to get by the city and county, in their efforts to take care our children, and I am opposed to Mayoral control of the Rochester City School District, just to mention a few issues/policies. However, i am aligned with city administrations attempts to bring employments to the City of Rochester, however those newly created opportunities for work, appear not to be given to residents who live within the City of Rochester, another I issue i do not agree with. 3) Do you support or oppose the proposed redevelopment of Cobbs Hill Village, and why? The city of Rochester needs to indeed use all resources to make availableto the elderly, lower income, the disabled and our veterans the opportunity to secure safe and affordable housing. Rochester Management Inc. is attempting to present an opportunity to help the City of Rochester fill our housing void. The company has assured the seniors who reside at the Cobbs Hill Village, their rents will not be increased, and they will not be displaced while the renovations are being made or after. Rochester Management Inc. also advises two more additional housing units will be built to accommodate renters, who are seniors, or others with low or middle income. Yes, I do support the redevelopment of the Cobbs Hill Village.
