This responds to your Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request dated and received
in this Office on March 8, 2017, for records of correspondence between the Department of
Justice and Congress pertaining to communications between Attorney General Jeff Sessions
and Russian officials since June 1, 2016. This response is made on behalf of the Office of
Legislative Affairs.
Please be advised that a search has been conducted of the electronic database of the
Departmental Executive Secretariat, which maintains certain Office of Legislative Affairs
records, including records of Department correspondence, and four pages were located that are
responsive to your request. Because the material is of primary interest to the Federal Bureau of
Investigation (FBI), we have referred the material to the FBI for processing and direct response
to you. Contact information for the FBI can be found at www.foia.gov.
For your information, Congress excluded three discrete categories of law enforcement
and national security records from the requirements of the FOIA. See 5 U.S.C. § 552(c)
(2012). This response is limited to those records that are subject to the requirements of the
FOIA. This is a standard notification that is given to all our requesters and should not be taken
as an indication that excluded records
