Dear Mr. Bezos,

On behalf of Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce, which represents over
1,300 employers in the nine?county Rochester, New York region, I?m writing to ask
you to consider our community as a potential location for the future expansion of
Amazon.com?s operations.

Currently President and CEO of Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce, I am
also the former mayor for the City of Rochester and most recently served as New
York State?s Lieutenant Governor alongside Governor Andrew Cuomo. I?m
passionate about this community, and I believe Rochester would be the perfect
match for Amazon. As the third largest city in New York, we have a rich history of
entrepreneurship, philanthropy, innovation, and business success. Rochester is the
home to organizations like Constellation Brands, Wegmans Food Markets, Eastman
Kodak Company, Xerox, Paychex, LiDestti Food Beverage, and other leading
corporations. Within a short drive of the city, we have 19 colleges and universities,
including the University of Rochester and Rochester Institute of Technology, two
world?renowned institutions. Furthermore, our city is the hub of the Finger Lakes
region, one of the most stunning geographical destinations across the country.

Most importantly, the Rochester?Finger Lakes area has a highly educated, skilled and
professional workforce with cutting edge packaging experience. Packaging is one of
our community?s many which could be tremendously bene?cial to
Amazon, a world leader in the deliveiy of goods. Rochester Institute of
Technology?s Packaging Science program is highly respected and one of only a few
in the country. In addition, Rochester was named as the headquarters for the
American Institute for Manufacturing Integrated Photonics (AIM Photonics) in
2015. With this monumental designation, we are developing a high?tech Testing,
Assembly and Packaging facility, which will make Rochester the center of
packaging for the wafer and semiconductor industry. This work will attract
international wafer producers to our area and result in further investments,
innovation and job opportunities.

As you can see, our community is currently in the midst of a major economic transformation. In
addition to the photonics announcement, the Finger Lakes region was selected as one of three
recipients for Governor Cuomo?s Upstate Revitalization Initiative competition. As a winner, we will
receive $500 million over ?ve years to support the expansion of our economy. More recently,
Rochester Institute of Technology was chosen to lead the REMADE (Reducing EMbodied?energy and
Decreasing Emissions) Institute, making us the only city in the country with two federal manufacturing
innovation institutes. Our community is on the move, and we want AmaZOn to be a part of it.

If you decide to locate future expansion in Rochester, I pledge that you will have signi?cant assistance
?om our corporate, government and educational partners. Governor Cuomo and his economic
development team would be especially supportive if you invested in the upstate region. Rochester, with
our rich mix of urban, suburban and rural resources, would be the ideal backdrop for Amazon. Although
we might not be on your immediate radar, once you have the chance to truly experience our community, I
have no doubt that you will enthusiastically agree.
