I feel if you would like an opportunity to speakgroup or we can each schedule a meeting. The original email regarding emergency funds, I had no information on until my judge sent the following that he had received. So the information may have gone to the county judges only. Again, lack of communication to the by the ARC. According to the information, it was going to be released to the public on Sunday, September 10, 2017, however I have heard nothing about the emergency funds from ARC. Information from Email received: American x. a" Red Cross DearJudge Fowler, Thanks to our generous donors, beginning on Sunday, September 10th, the American Red Cross will begin its next phase of supporting the recovery efforts following Hurricane Harvey. The Red Cross is providing $400 in financial assistance to Texas households that were severely impacted by Harvey and need help taking care of emergency needs right now. This assistance will allow people to make their own decisions and prioritize what their family needs most. It can help families begin their recovery by providing funds to buy clothes or food, offset transportation expenses, or support any other emergency need. Spending these funds locally will also allow Texas communities to begin to recover from the enormous economic losses inflicted by Harvey. Assistance is available for those significantly affected by Hurricane Harvey?by verifying: - Primary residence was severely impacted by Harvey. - Household is in need of emergency assistance. a Household was displaced by the impact of Harvey. Pre-disaster primary address in one of these 39 Texas counties Aransas, Austin, Bastrop, Bee, Brazoria, Calhoun, Chambers, Colorado, DeWitt, Fayette, Fort Bend, Galveston, Goliad, Gonzalez, Hardin, Harris, Jackson, Jasper, Jefferson, Karnes, Kleberg, Lavaca, Lee, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, Newton, Nueces, Orange, Polk, Refugio, Sabine, San Jacinto, San Patricio, Tyler, Victoria, Walker, Waller, Wharton. If qualified, applicants will be eligible for $400 per household to support emergency needs. This assistance will be made available through several methods including Zelle (electronic funds transfer to participating banks), MoneyGram, Walmart or PayPal. In most cases, applicants will be notified immediately oftheir eligibility. For those still in shelters, the Red Cross will help facilitate the registration process with volunteers and tablet computers. If they don?t have access to a computer, they can call for assistance. Households can apply for the Hurricane Harvey Immediate Assistance Program at redcross.org/HHlA. Registration for this program will be open through Monday, October 9. Receiving financial support from the Red Cross will not affect their eligibility for FEMA assistance. This information will be released to the public tomorrow, September 10, but I wanted to share it with you ahead of time to answer any questions that you many have. These docs might save the County some effort determining the suitability of the structures as shelters. i don't have any written contract with the County saying we (ARC) could use the facilities. We don't usually consider Calhoun County to be a pre?event shelter site, so my recollection is that our DPM and Judge Pfeifer would resolve the issue over the phone as the situation develops. I'll have to see ifthe Shelter is recorded in the NSS, but if it is not that doesn't in any way stop us from helping the County open and run it. Garrell Volunteer Logistics Lead 361?408?0201
