Dear Foreman Baskin: This letter is the formal response to the above-referenced Grand Jury report?s Recommendation 17-22, which is speci?c to the Mayor. Recommendation 17-22: Provide the information requested by the City Attorney in his October 12, 2016, MOL to enact an ordinance enabling enforceability of the transparency law. Alternatively, work in collaboration with the City Council and other appropriate departments to craft ballot language for the 2018 election to amend the City Charter. . Response: The recommendation has been implemented. The Mayor?s of?ce has worked with the City Attorney?s of?ce, the Committee Consultant and the Of?ce of the Independent Budget Analyst and presented revisions to Charter Section 225 to the Rules Committee on June 7, 2017 with the recommendation to place the revisions on the November 6, 2018 General Election for voter consideration. Baskin Page Two The Mayor has directed all Mayoral Departments to comply with Charter Section 225 prior to the November 6, 2018 General Election by following the Federal Securities and Exchange Commission?s Rule 16b. Rule 16b requires disclosure of all corporate of?cers, board members and any investor with 10% or greater interest. This requirement for disclosure would apply when an entity contracts with, purchases from or leases with the City in the aggregate amount of $500,000 in any one calendar year.
