Dear Chairman and Commissioners,

After completing 26 years of faithful service to the Fire District and this community, I wish to retire
effective February 28, 2018. Because of the need for time to develop the transition process, including
the planning for a change of command ceremony, the Board could name an interim Chief with the full
authority to handle the affairs of the District through the next 3 to 4 months. As was the case with
Chief Parrish, i would be available as needed during that time and could assist in preparations for the .
ceremony.

From the day enlisted in the U5. Navy at age 19, I have dedicated my life to public service. The
sacrifices made over the last 35 years have come at great personal and physical cost and are more
substantial than I can put into words. Yet I would do it all over again if only on the hope that some
good has come from it.
