October 12, 2017 Children?s Musical Theaten~orks 2425 Fresno Street Fresno, CA 93721 Over the last several months, the City of Fresno has been conducting formal assessments of many of our park sites and other community facilities. One of these assessments involved the Veteran?s Memorial Building, which identi?ed more than $3.5 Million in needed upgrades and repairs in order to bring the facility into compliance to current code and to an acceptable standard of maintenance. Of this amount nearly $1 million' IS related to the stage, auditorium, and related spaces. Unfortunately, the City does not currently have the resources necessary-to address these repairs. Therefore, effective December 31, 2017, public access will be limited to the main foyer and Veteran?s Museum. The City recognizes how this decision will impact the community and, in particular, your organization. In recognition of the service you provide to our area youth and arts community, the City is prepared to offer our assistance with transporting equipment, costumes, and supplies to an alternate local site of your choosing. Please contact David Rodriguez with our PARCS Department to make the necessary arrangements- We do ask for at least a one-week lead time to schedule staff accordingly. We thank you for all you do for our community, and it is our sincere hope that you understand the regrettable action we are, unfortunately, faced with taking. Sincerely, Bruce Rudd, Interim Assistant City Manager/Interim PARCS Director cc: Lee Brand, Mayor Wilma Quan-Schecter, City Manager City of Fresno City Hall - 2600 Fresno Street Fresno, California 93721-3601 (559)621-7770 - FAX (559)621-7776 -
