STATE vs. LANE MAURICE DAVIS, DOB: 05/28/1984

I, DETECTIVE. Kevin Sigman, depose and say, I am a commissioned Sheriff?s Detective
for the County of Skagit and have been a commissioned law enforcement of?cer since
1995. I'have been assigned to Investigations since 2013. I have completed Washington
State Criminal Justice Basic Law Enforcement Academy and have attended or
participated in numerous classes and seminars pertaining to datamaster, .drug
recognition, ?eld training of?cer, defensive tactics instructor, interview techniques,
Spanish language, chemical munitions deployment, noise ?ash diversionary device
deployment, excited delirium for investigators, electronic surveillance, one party consent
applications, narcotics wires, death and homicide investigation, open source intelligence
techniques, detective and new criminal investigator, FBI crime scene processing and
introduction to forensics, of?cer involved shooting. investigations, Active Threat
Response, Basic Marine Law Enforcement, and other law enforcementrelated topics. I
am certi?ed in child interviews. .

On July 14, 2017 at about 3:37 pm. CATHERINE DAVIS called 911 to report a
domestic dispute involving her son, LANE DAVIS, which was occurring at 4767 Wharf
Street, Bow, WA 98232, in Skagit County. CATHERINE said that LANE was being
verbal and out of control. A. male voice, which was identi?ed as LANE, could be heard
in the background yelling. CATHERINE stated that LANE was, chasing her husband and
her aron the house and getting in their faces. CATHERINE said that, LANE was angry
about something on the internet about "leftist pedophiles" and said that LANE thought
they were leftist and was calling them pedophiles.

While deputies were responding to the scene CATHERINE called 911 again and stated
that her husband, CHARLES DAVIS, had been stabbed and was deceased.
CATHERINE said that her son stabbed CHARLES. In subsequent interviews,
CATHERINE stated that she saw LANE stab her husband in the chest.

A neighbor heard yelling at the residence. He directed his family to leave due to the tone
and volume of the yelling. He went outside and was met by CATHERINE at the comer
of Wharf Street and'Sarnish Island Road. She was upset and exclaiming that LANE had
stabbed CHARLES. She was asking for help. The neighbor obtained medical supplies
and went toward the back deck. He met DEPUTY STEINER as he was arriving. The
neighbor advised that in his Opinion CHARLES. had been mortally wounded, was
unresponsive, was not breathing, and had no pulse.

A second neighbor stated that he heard screaming down the road and then it stopped. He
observed the above neighbor's family leave their home in a car. This. neighbor went to
Wharf Street and as he turned the comer onto Wharf Street he saw LANE standing in the
roadway. The neighbor ordered LANE to the ground and about 30 seconds later a

DEPUTY arrived to take LANE into custody. This neighbor entered the residence and
found CHARLES on the back deck With massive blood loss in the neck and chest, no
pulse, not breathing, and with his-eyes open.

DEPUTY STEIN ER arrived on scene and found CHARLES DAVIS deceased on the
back porch of the residence. DEPUTY STEINER located LANE DAVIS outside of the
residence and took LANE into custody without incident. LANE had blood on his person
and clothing.

DETECTIVES interviewed LANE and he stated that he started an argument with his
father, CHARLES DAVIS, about whether toddlers could consent to sex or not.
CHARLES was yelling at- LANE and trying to kick him out of the house. LANE said
that at some point CHARLES said he had called the police and that he said that the police
were coming. CHARLES also called LANE a Nazi and a racist. LANE said that he
grabbed a knife and stabbed CHARLES in the chest outside the door. He obtained the
knife he used from aknife set in the kitchen. LANE thought he put the knife? somewhere
in the house by the door and that he 'went outside, put his hands up, and waited for the
police.

DETECTIVES obtained a Skagit County District Court search warrant to search the
residence. DETECTIVES searched the residence and recovered CHARLES 
body on the back porch. He was deceased. DETECTIVES also recovered a large chef?s
kitchen knife from the kitchen counter in the residence. The knife had blood along the
majority of the blade.

An autopsy revealed that CHARLES had received at least ?ve stab Wounds to the chest
regiOn and one stab wound to the back. These stab Wounds caused fatal injuries to
heart and also caused injuries to his lungs

DETECTIVES searched telephone pursuant to a Skagit County District
Court search warrant. Detectives recovered over 100 audio ?les. One of these ?les was
createdon July 14, 2017 and recorded the murder of CHARLES DAVIS. The audio
recording captured approximately 11 minutes and '56 seconds of the discussion occurring
between LANE and his parents immediately prior to the murder.

During that conversation, CHARLES told LANE that LANE had threatened to kill him
about six time and asked LANE to stop spitting in his face. LANE said that he wasn't
threatening to kill CHARLES but that he was . .threatening to kill pedophiles who were
taking over the country". CATHERINE called 911 and LANE told her, "You guys are
[expletive] dead to me". LANE asked if his parents were kicking him out of the house
because he was mad about pedophiles several times. LANE asked his parents, "What am
I going to do?" LANE said, "Dad, this is it". LANE also asked his parents if they were
really going to send him to prison. He ?xated on the possibility of going 'to prison.
LANE spoke to CHARLES and said, "Mother [expletive], I'm not going to touch you
because they will [expletive] arrest me. He then said to CHARLES, "You are disgusting.
You're lower than dirt. You are a pedophile ?lth. That's why you are having your own
son arrested because I got mad at pedophiles, because I don't like pedophiles."

At the 9:22 minute of the recording LANE said, "Really dude. If they are going to arrest
me." .

At the 10:10 minute of the recording LANE said, "Ok well, so here's the deal. Ifl am
going to go to prison for threatening to kill somebody, I mean". CHARLES immediately
said, "Leave the knife alone CATHERINE told LANE to just go out of there.
LANE repeated that they were going to put him in prison. CATHERINE said that she
wasn't trying to put LANE into prison but just wanted to get some help. LANE said,
"Thank you for sending me to prison".

At the 11:41. minute of the recording LANE. said, "Ok, well. [Expletive] man.
CATHERINE told LANE to just get out of there. LANE said, "So, you are going to send
me to prison? My life is over".

At the 1 1:48 minute of the recording CHARLES told CATHERINE that LANE had
grabbed the handle of the knife. CATHERINE said, know he did".- Heavy footsteps
can be heard and LANE said, "So, you are going to send me to [expletive] prison
anyway".

At the 11:56 minute of the recording CHARLES said, get out of the
house. He's got a knife. [Expletive]. 

The elapsed time from the 10:10 minute of the reCording- when CHARLES told LANE to
leave the knife alone to the 11:56 minute of the recording where CHARLES. exclaimed
that has a knife is one minute and 46 seconds.

Based. on the above information I am at this time requesting that LANE MAURICE
DAVIS, DOB: 05/28/1984, be charged with Murder Degree (RCW 9A.32.030).
