METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT Peter Newsham OFFICE OF COMMUNICATIONS Dustin Sternbeck Chief of Police Director NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Public Information Office: 202- 727-4383 November 2, 2017 Second Arrest Made in a Homicide Offense: 1200 Block of I Street, Southeast (Washington, DC) - Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch announced that a second arrest has been made in a Homicide offense that occurred in the 1200 block of I Street, Southeast, on Sunday, September 10, 2017. At approximately 5:56 pm, members of the First District responded to the listed location for the report of the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. On Sunday, October 1, 2017, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The decedent has been identified as 24-year-old, Carl Hardy, of Northeast, DC. On Thursday, October 26, 2017, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, a 16-year-old juvenile male, of Southeast, DC, was arrested and charged as an adult with First Degree Murder While Armed.
