Dear Learners, I wanted to provide some updates for you. Information is changing on a daily basis, but this is what we know right now:  As of today, we can confirm that your fall semester classes will be extended until Friday, Dec. 22 and will start again on Tuesday, Jan. 2. If you have regularly scheduled Saturday classes, you may have a class on Saturday, Dec. 23 but you will be notified as soon as possible if this is the case.  Final exam week, Dec. 9 to 16, will now be used for classes.  Your winter-semester fees due date has been extended from Nov. 15 to Dec. 8, 2017. If you are in need of more time to pay, you can defer your winter semester fee payment until Feb. 12, 2018. It’s easy to do — complete the Application for Deferral on ACSIS. Deferring your fees gives you access to your winter timetable which will be available to you no later than Dec. 23.  Based on what we know today, distribution of winter semester OSAP will not be delayed as a result of the work stoppage.  As always, bursaries and other assistance are available. If you are in immediate financial need and require assistance with food, shelter or medical needs, please visit the Registrar’s Office in Room C150 or email bursaries@algonquincollege.com. We are here to help. There are still some details that we do not know:  When the work stoppage will end.  Plans for the February study week (Feb. 19-23, 2018) have not been finalized. We advise that all students refrain from booking travel during this period, which may be used to reschedule classes, clinical placements or labs.  What the restructured year will look like or specific dates for assignment deadlines or exams. Schedules will only be available after the work stoppage ends.  How or if students will be reimbursed for tuition. Right now, our Registrar’s Office policies are the same, including refund policies. The Colleges will receive direction from the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development with regard to the provincial refund practice. We will continue to update www.algonquincollege.com/strikeinfo as information becomes available. Please check it regularly and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to send them to strikeinfo@algonquincollege.com. Sincerely, Claude Brul? Senior Vice President Academic
