This is information I have learned from Alexis Berget, a current IVIPD employee, and from when I interviewed there in 2006. BCA SOPs indicate that they test their reagents quarterly to ensure that they are still working but they still don't list a shelf life or expiration date. Shay sent the director an email inquiring about this. Jamie is including the same question (with his many others) to his contact in IOWA. I'm especially happy to hearthat they use a range of solvent 1.0mL) in their testing though I will continue to work on the validation with Kim. Haven't heard from her yet but I will lay the groundwork of a document this weekend/week. Bobbie's Memo She finished it yesterday but it was in paper form. She placed a copy in his maiibox. Certifications I did a little research regarding certification for drug chemists. We spoke of Bobbie working on obtaining membership with MAFS (Midwestern Association of Forensic Scientists). She is waiting until their fall meeting to find out whether or not they have accepted her. Once she's in, she hs the ability to refer the rest of the lab members. On the MAPS website they offer an ABC Prep Workshop for about $300. The purpose ofthe workshop is to prepare one for certification by ABC (America Board of Criminalistics). The downfall is that the course is in August and anyone taking the course would also have to register for the fall conference where the testing occurs. ABC seems to be the only place to obtain certification for forensic drug chemistry though it covers other forensic areas as well. They mention specialized certifications but I can't seem to find and information so will send an email to them. Here are important/informational websites: I1 I . IAI Certifications can be found on the site below. We will continue to do research to move forward: There is another course/conference offered by the DEA. It is for new examiners and will take place in September. I would attach a link but the city blocks their site for some reason (I have sent them an email to fix). To find google DEA Iviicrogram" select an issue and scroll to the end. The last three pages usually deal with upcoming conferences and applications. We have discussed this trainin before and would like to send them. Training with RCAO I would like to schedule time with Susan Hudson to have a mock trial with the lab (more than one if possible). I think it will benefit Bobbie and Kari the most. Kari is out the week before the Frye- so perhaps late June, early July.
