Follow-Up Information: 6-9f2014 18:33 Thomas Ditch?eld faxed over update: Report Datefl?in1e1830 June 9, 2014 General Descziption of release Dining sampling of the sewage treatment facility cleaiwell, it was discovered that. the system contained approximately 50,000 pCir?L of tritium. At the time of discovery, no effluent was being discharged from the facility. However, upon investigation it. was determined that beaveen the time period of 04110212014 to 06/032014, elevated levels of tritium existed at the discharge of the plant. It has been determined that no greater than 0.1 Cuties were discharged from the site. The majority of this discharge was to the Kaincalcee River via the sewage treatment plant effluent. A small amount, determined to be less than was discharged to the Morris, 11. sewage treatment. facility. This release has been determined to be related to the groundwater tritium which was identi?ed and reported to the IBPA on June 8, 2014. The system is currently isolated, and is not discharging to the Kankakee River. Actions Taken in Response to Release 1) Isolation of the discharge to the Kanltakee River 2) Sampling of on-site monitoring wells to identify source of tritium 3) Inspections of the on?site leak location 4) Development of a repair plan Knovm and Anticipated Impacts to Human Health anfor Environment Based upon the small amount of Tritium (determined to be no greater than 0.1 Ci) that was discharged into the Kanltakee River. there are no known or anticipated impacts to Human Eleaith or to the Environment. Addi?ona} Infomlatioz} This report is being made based on additional infomation gathered following the voluntary report made to the and IRMA on June 8, 2014 due to the discovery of elevated levels of tritium in the site groundwater.
