Christmas Outside the Box Idea Summary 1) Lora DeWald members of the family are given the task to do a ?random act of kindness?. After completing the act of kindness, they are asked to write a letter describing what happened and send the letter to the designated recipient. 2) Angel Tree - Take your child or grandchild to the mall. Choose a name from the angel tree who is the same age as the child you are with. Shop together. 3) Let children gift the way they wish; making coupons; wrapping Dad?s hammer, Mom?s com-b as Christmas presents. 4) Write your life story give segments each Christmas. 5) Shop for books as arr-outing with Grandma/adult. The child can read the book and then give it away. 6) Jennifer Lunder-Ayuda (ELCA Latino ministry) Needs of Latino families A basket containing the following items would be welcome: Jasmine Rice, Pinto Beans, can of tuna, spaghetti, jar of tomato sauce, toilet paper, laundry detergent, and dish soap. If you have a basket, call Jennifer at 605-201?9160 to arrange getting it to a family. 7) Good Gifts As a family, choose a good gift from the catalog. Save money to pay for the gift. Or: Give a Good Gift in honor of a family member. Children are aware of poverty. 8) Carry a couple $100 bills (or desired amount). Prayerfully consider to whom you are led to give it. Then give the money; explain your reason for giving, etc. 9) Giving to a needy family mSt. Francis is coordinating ?Adopt-A-Family and Other Holiday Giving? which provide Christmas gifts to area families in need through the support of community churches, businesses, organizations and individuals. Each person is asked to share the memory at their Christmas gathering. In years to come, you may wish you would have asked more questions of your parents and grandparents.
