METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT Peter Newsham OFFICE OF COMMUNICATIONS Dustin Sternbeck Chief of Police Director NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Public Information Office: 202- 727-4383 December 4, 2017 Arrest Made in a Homicide: 1700 Block of North Capitol Street, Northeast (Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announced an arrest has been made in a fatal stabbing that occurred in the 1700 block of North Capitol Street, Northeast, on Saturday, September 23, 2017. At approximately 11:20 pm, members of the Fifth District responded to the listed location for the report of a man down. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male, suffering from a stab wound. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital. On Monday, September 25, 2017, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The decedent has been identified as 46 year-old Andrew Alphonzo Cook, III, of Northeast, DC.
