Dear Members of the Board:
The Hinsdale County Board of Commissioners would like to comment on an item of concern
that has been brought to our attention. The Colorado River Water Conservation District's hiring
of Mr. Zane Kessler, former Executive Director of the Thompson Divide Coalition, is troubling.
Our Board feels the decision to hire Mr. Kessler as Communications Director may seriously
jeopardize the established values, goals and initiatives which are the substance of your
organization, its representation and the water rights it protects.
Given the professional history ofthis individual and past (as well as stated current) efforts
affiliated with the Thompson Divide Coalition, (which directly conflicts with the mission of the
Colorado River Water Conservation District Board) we would ask that you consider our genuine
concern with Mr. Kessler's "attachments" and conflicts of interest.
We join with numerous other counties in requesting your attention to this matter and look
forward to your reply.
