The Coalition is known fer their agenda and activities opposing Imultiple? - uses of our public lands. I - - The White River-and Douglas Creek Conservation Districts recently adopted a Land Use Plan (Plan) for our Districts, and Rio Blanco County. The Plan was extensively vetted through the constituents of Rio Blanco County and-includes our customs and cultures, and how the people of Rio Blanco County would like public lands and natural resources to be managed within the County. in Section 4.1.2 of the Plan, Policy Statement number 3 states, ?Public- lands must be I managed in a manner that recognizes the Nation?s need for a domestic source of minerals, fond, timber, and fiber.?, or in other Words for multiple use. Additionally, in the same section, Policy Statement number 9 states, "ACcess to all resources on federal lands shall also be recognized as part of the custom and culture of Rio Blanco County.? A-cOpy of the Plan can be. viewed and downloaded from our website at From the above statements, one can very well see our concern'with the hiring of Mr. Kessler as he is' on record in a recent interview with the Glenwood Post as saying, will continue to be active with the coalition in a volunteer capacity.? If the hiring of Mr. Kessler indicates a change happening in the direction and philosophy of the Colorado River District, we are even more so concerned and alarmed. It is very disappointing to discover that an organization such as the Colorado River District would'allow itself to become infiltrated lay-someone with the motivation and track record of Mr. Kessler?s. We would like to ask of the Colorado River District for a clear statement of what-the agreement has been made with Mr. Kessler regarding his continued involvement with the Thompson Divide Coalition, and any other organization that is in direct conflict with the Colorado River District and/or its members? policies and goals.
