California Department of Education Executive Office SBE-002 (REV. 11/2017) memo-pptb-amard-dec17item01 MEMORANDUM DATE: December 1, 2017 TO: MEMBERS, State Board of Education FROM: TOM TORLAKSON, State Superintendent of Public Instruction SUBJECT: California School Dashboard: District and School Student Group Results for the Revised Academic Indicator Summary of Key Issues At the November 2017 State Board of Education (SBE) meeting, the SBE approved revisions to the Academic Indicator, including new Change cut scores for English language arts/literacy (ELA) and mathematics, new Status cut scores for mathematics, and new color designations for the five-by-five grids for ELA and mathematics. The SBE requested that the California Department of Education provide the SBE with district and school student group data for the Academic Indicator, similar to the data provided in the January 2017 SBE item (https://www.cde.ca.gov/be/ag/ag/yr17/documents/jan17item02.doc and https://www.cde.ca.gov/be/ag/ag/yr17/documents/jan17item02a1addendum.doc). This Information Memorandum provides state level student group data at the local educational agency (LEA) and school levels for ELA and mathematics, using the revised cut scores and color designations adopted by the SBE in November 2017. (Please note that charter schools are considered LEAs under the Local Control Funding Formula and are included in the district level results.)
