METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT Peter Newsham OFFICE OF COMMUNICATIONS Dustin Sternbeck Chief of Police Director NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Public Information Office: 202- 727-4383 December 14, 2017 Arrest Made in a 2016 Homicide: 400 Block of Burbank Street, Southeast (Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announced an arrest has been made in reference to a homicide that occurred in the 400 block of Burbank Street, Southeast on Friday, July 15, 2016. At approximately 2:00 pm, a Park Service employee discovered an unconscious person while investigating complaints of illegal dumping in the area. DC Fire & EMS responded to the scene and found no signs consistent with life. The decedent suffered from apparent blunt force injuries and remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. On July 16, 2016, an autopsy was performed on the decedent’s remains. The cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma and the manner of death was ruled a homicide. The decedent has been identified as 29-year-old Jerimi Stephen Meade of Southeast, DC.
